HOW TO WIN
In 2016, after about one year of assaulting the outdoor advertising in central London, i was invited to participate in some “competition time to replace ads with art”. The contest was run by a showcasing agency based in East London, in partnership with outdoor advertising agencies.
It was the inspiration for this design: “HOW TO WIN do not take the bait, cut the line”, but then i never subscribed the call out. Rather than that one week after the contest’s deadline posters with this design appeared in central East and South London (Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Bethnal Green and New Cross Gate, just in front of Goldsmiths university). They were replacing official commercials, occupying their spaces without permission with a clear invitation to do the same.
In July 2017 Italian police officers sequestered in Rome a print with the same design. The artwork was considered an evidence of the author’s identity. The description of a poster with the text “HOW TO WIN” appears in the Police report.
This limited edition of 35 screenprints are the attend to this personal fight for space. Rewards will be shared between me and my friend Arturo Amitrano, skilled skreenprinter that worked with me in the printing processes.
